Working Groups for cross-subproject collaboration
Furthermore, four technical working groups (WGs) will be set up on the key activities, which will ensure cross-cluster coordination across the sub-projects and cooperation through regular meetings and joint reporting. A detailed overview of the AI-NET project structure is given in the fligure below.
- Working group 1 on “Automation of services and applications on the edge”
(headed by Nokia) - Working group 2 on “Carrier grade AI/ML for automation”
(headed by Ericsson) - Working group 3 on “Edge platform and infrastructure”
(headed by RISE) - Working group 4 on “Safety and security solutions”
(headed by ADVA)
To foster collaboration among the sub-projects as well as individual partners, 2 meetings/workshops per year are planned, potentially in conjunction with AI-NET consortium meetings. The results of the WGs will be summarized in a yearly report due end of each year, i. e. end of 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Concerning dissemination, the WG will contribute to diverse newsletters (national, international) and intermediate reports as well as with posters/papers/talks/demos at varying conferences. Additionally, the WGs will publish results on the AI-NET web site. To strengthen the information exchange with SMEs, special events together with SMEs are planned e. g. a separate SME day in conjunction with Celtic next reviews.
Partners planning to submit contributions to standardization bodies can present and discuss these contributions in advance via the WG mailing lists, the web platform or during one of the workshops to align between partners and generate consensus and support.
In the frame of four WGs the joint work on the four key topics and activities of AI-NET will be organized according to the current view. During the project term additional topics might be addressed by building further working groups. The list of study items will be further refined and optionally extended at kick-off time to include the input of all involved partners.
Working Group 1 – Automation of services and applications on the edge
The objective of this WG is to foster and ensure collaboration on automation of services aspects between the sub-projects though regular meetings, exchange of requirements and architecture definitions, alignment of studies, and joint reporting.
The work items of the WG are defined by automation related research topics of the sub-projects. An initial list of topics is as follows:
- Distributed Cloud automation architectures
- End to end service automation for secure enterprise connectivity
- End-to-end slice management
Working Group 2 – Carrier grade AI/ML for automation
The objective of this WG is to foster and ensure collaboration on carrier grade AI/ML for automation aspects between the sub-projects though regular meetings, exchange of requirements and architecture definitions, alignment of studies, and joint reporting.
The work items of the WG are defined by AI/ML for automation related research topics of the sub-projects. An initial list of topics is as follows:
- Distributed AI architectures
- Embedded AI
- Coordination of AI approaches for end to end consistency
- Monitoring and data acquisition for network automation AI/ML
Working Group 3 – Edge platform and infrastructure
The objective of this WG is to foster and ensure collaboration on edge platform and infrastructure aspects between the sub-projects though regular meetings, exchange of requirements and architecture definitions, alignment of studies, and joint reporting.
The work items of the WG are defined by edge platform and infrastructure related research topics of the sub-projects. An initial list of topics is as follows:
- Distributed edge architectures
- Edge IT hardware
- Connectivity infrastructure and transport networks
- Power, energy and sustainability of edge
- Edge nodes and energy infrastructure
- Node architectures and transport technologies for scalable & reliable connectivity
Working Group 4 – Safety and security solutions
The objective of this WG is to foster and ensure collaboration on safety and security aspects between the sub-projects though regular meetings, exchange of requirements and architecture definitions, alignment of studies, and joint reporting.
The work items of the WG are defined by safety and security related research topics of the sub-projects. An initial list of topics is as follows:
- Distributed security architectures
- Multi-layer cryptography
- Zero-knowledge key management
- Quantum-safe algorithms
